Max, I just came across your blog; I am very sorry for your loss. My own tears are running, given a small series of somewhat familiar markers. Austin (grad school, shopping at the original Whole Foods), Iowa City (first prof job), and hardest, loss of sibling. No particular order, I apologize for what seems like "matching", which is not the issue. There should be some kind of mark for ending sentences of grief, but we don't have that in English.

You do write exceptionally well, I like your writing, not limited to this carving out the heart pain.

so sorry for your loss. I don't know you obviously, but from what I've read of your writing you're brave and decent, and I am truly sorry that this ghastly lightning strike found your family. Wishing you comfort.
